NAD Starts Shipping T 757 3D-Ready Surround Sound Receiver

By Rachel Cericola

Back in January, NAD Electronics showed off a slew of new receivers at the annual Consumer Electronics Show. Now the company says that the NAD T 757 AV Receiver has started shipping.

What makes the T 757 a standout is the Modular Design Construction (MDC) architecture. The MDC design features input circuitry on removable plug-in cards. This makes upgrading the unit a lot easier, as future technologies are made available. In other words, it's not just a fun purchase, but more of an investment. You won't have to worry about the next big technology making your current receiver obsolete.  Priced at $1599 (MSRP), NAD says that this is one of those features that we've never seen at this price level.

Of course, it also has support for popular surround sound formats, including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, as well as the company's own EARS surround mode. On the video side, the receiver promises 3D video passthrough at resolutions up to 1080p. There's also analog video transcoding to HDMI, so you can have that one-wire connection to a flat screen or projector with all of your sources, new and old, connected to the receiver.

Other features include AV Presets, FM/AM tuner, support for a second independent zone, and a full suite of connections for home automation systems. There's also the option for iPod integration, via the company's IPD 2 Dock.

"Rather than over-complicating the AV Receiver by cramming every possible feature and buzz word into the box, NAD carefully evaluates how customers actually use our products and only includes the features that are essential for great audio and video performance," said Greg Stidsen, NAD's director of technology and product planning. "In addition, our Modular Design Construction feature offers the real benefit of being able to add new technology down the road, greatly enhancing the value proposition."
