MartinLogan doesn't mess around when it comes to sound and most people have to pay through the nose to get a taste of it. The 10-inch Dynamo subwoofer packs a nice punch -- and now at a price you can afford. Apparently, this unit isn't easy to come by, but Amazon is offering it for 42 percent off the list price -- for $379:
The Dynamo combines a 10-inch aluminum woofer with a 200-watt internal amplifier. A nifty little feature in the design allows users to tweak whether the unit is in the forward or downward firing position. A grille cover and 90-degree RCA adapters are included for those front-firing moments.
Dynamo's main left/right line-level inputs feed into a precision low-pass filter with a cutoff frequency variable from 30 to 80Hz. The IME (inverse mathematical equalization) filter is derived from the inverse of the unfiltered driver response. Precision IME filtering promises extremely accurate low-frequency response. A portless enclosure makes for some smooth sound from this compact cabinet. It also comes with MiniETC spikes to keep the unit stable on floors and thick carpets.
Buy MartinLogan's Dynamo now and Amazon will sign you up for a free year's worth of Wired magazine. They will also send a $5 credit for Amazon MP3 downloads, once the order ships.
