MartinLogan fans will be very happy to welcome two new speakers into the ElectroMotion family -- and maybe even their homes. The company just announced the addition of the ElectroMotion C2 center channel and the ElectroMotion FX2 surround speaker to the company's popular line.
Designed to complement MartinLogan's existing electrostatic floor-standing speakers, both of the new models use the company's compact Folded Motion thin film transducer.
However, both the EM-C2 center channel and EM-FX2 surrounds have a larger, low distortion Folded Motion XT tweeter, which boasts a radiating surface that's 40 percent larger than those found in the company's Motion Series products.
Another common feature is the convenient push-style speaker terminals. If you don't like that, the terminal's rubber end caps are removable to accommodate banana plugs.
Priced at $799.95 (MSRP), the EM-C2 center channel is about the size of a standard AV receiver. That means you may be able to sneak it inside your AV cabinet. Inside, the EM-C2 has the Folded Motion XT tweeter and dual 5.25-inch woofers. It's rated at 94dB.
The EM-FX2 surround speakers are also sold separately, at $649.95 each. Those have a single 6.5-inch woofer and dual Folded Motion XT tweeters. Available in black or white, this speaker can be mounted on the wall, in a corner or at an angle.
Of course, both new speakers are also designed to complement MartinLogan's ElectroMotion ESL speaker, as well as the Dynamo 1000 subwoofer.
