Logitech Adds MOG Music Service to Squeezebox Player Line

By Rachel Cericola

Get ready to rock that Squeezebox, people. Logitech announced that they've added the MOG music service to the Squeezebox's content lineup.

MOG is now available on all Logitech Squeezebox players in the U.S. That means that each of those devices will be able to access over 13 million songs, as well as custom radio stations, artist-only stations, and more.

"MOG is an ideal addition to Squeezebox, thanks to its huge collection of music and easy customization," said Scott Harrington, Logitech's director of product management for streaming music. "You can listen to exactly what you're in the mood for -- whether it's a favorite oldie or something brand new."

MOG offers ad-free music, with streaming-audio quality of 320 kbps. The cost for that is $5 per month.

Logitech offers a variety Squeezebox products to choose from, including the Logitech Squeezebox Radio (MSRP: $179.99), which we reviewed when it was first released. More recently, we gave the Logitech Squeezebox Touch (MSRP: $299.99) one of our BIGGIE awards saying, "While many of the line's other products are catered to small spaces or on-the-fly listening, this is the one that you'll want to use to show off what a massive audio geek you can be."

In addition to MOG, the Squeezebox line currently offers access to services such as Pandora, Spotify, Napster, SiriusXM and Last.fm, as well as countless web radio stations. MOG offers additional music options, but also promises a more personalized streaming music experience.

Some of that personalization comes from playlists, which can be built based on favorite songs and artists. You can also browse other people's playlists, or listen to both artist-only and similar-artist radio. Other features include a New Releases section, as well as recommendations through Editors' Picks.

To get the MOG music service on your Squeezbox, visit the My Squeezebox website. The service is also offering a free 14-day trial if you want to give it a spin before signing up.
