The countdown to Christmas is officially a few days away. It's a very exciting time -- one that people celebrate with stale chocolate.
Instead of questionable treats, Linn wants to use this time to freshen up your music collection, with its 24-Bits of Christmas campaign. Starting December 1, Linn will be giving away one Studio Master track every day through Christmas day.
A Studio Master is basically a 24-bit download. It's also the highest-quality music file currently available. Designed for music lovers, it allows listeners to hear the music exactly as it was intended, before it was tweaked to fit on a CD or squished down to MP3 size.
What's better than giving the gift of music? Linn is hoping to expand your musical horizons, promising to include upcoming musicians, new genres, and a few well known favorites during the promotion period. That lineup will include the award-winning Sir Charles Mackerras and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Britain's first lady of jazz Claire Martin, electronica legend Jean-Michel Jarre, popular Scottish indie-rock band Admiral Fallow, and much more.
To get your free music, go to the 24-Bits of Christmas website. If you really like something, you can download the entire album at Linn's online music store.
A taster track is available now -- and will be until the daily downloads go live on December 1, 2013. However, it's important to note that three Studio Master tracks will be available on the first day of the promotion. After that, new downloads will go up on the site every day starting at 10:00 GMT (or 5:00 a.m. EST). Each download will then be available for a 24-hour period.
Once you're finished opening presents, make sure to check back on the site. Between December 25 and 27, Linn is promising to offer a surprise gift. Until then, have fun rocking around the Christmas tree with some free music!
