The holidays are a time where this is no shortage of lights, and while New York City has had several "lightings" this year including the annual throwing the switch on the Rockefeller Christmas Tree, LG Electronics cast a very bright light of its own. As part of a pre-CES event this week, the company unveiled the next generation of flat panel HDTVs, which feature NANO lighting technology.
According to LG Electronics the upcoming LW9500 and LW7700 NANO FULL LED TV series will push the boundaries of viewing pleasure with the addition of NANO Lighting Technology, which produces LG's brightest, clearest and smoothest picture yet. The sets feature an extremely thin film printed with a proprietary light dispersion pattern combined with a full array of LEDs to disperse light more evenly across the screen, creating pictures that are brighter and more uniform than conventional edge-lit LED sets.
Additionally, this technology utilizes an Anti-Reflection Panel on the screen to minimize reflection from external light sources, including sunlight or other ambient room light, to provide a crystal clear picture under any lighting conditions. Both models will further offer improved localized dimming technology in both 2D and 3D with their Micro Pixel Control. This reportedly should allow for manipulation of individual LED blocks, where the Micro Pixel Control adds even greater range and life to colors, from the deepest, darkest blacks to the most natural colors. The LW9500 will also feature LG's TruMotion 480Hz refresh rate technology, while the LW7700 features LG's TruMotion 240Hz.
The new sets will also offer an ultra-slim profile, as the NANO backlighting unit enables overall set depth and bezel to be as thin as less than one inch. Screen sizes will range from 47- to 60-inches diagonally.
LG Electronics has announced that additional details on the models including specs, pricing and availability will be announced at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show in January.
