Why should TVs have all of the fun connectivity features? LG is putting some of those web goodies into a slew of new AV devices, including soundbars, docking speakers and Blu-ray players.
The company just announced its 2013 AV lineup, which includes the BH9430PW 9.1-channel speaker system, the NB4530A Sound Bar, and the BP730 Blu-ray player with Smart TV features, as well as the ND8630 Dual Docking Speaker and the NP6630 Portable Speaker.
The BH9430PW has speaker cones that use high-tensile Aramid fiber, promising a wider range of crystal-clear sound. Of course, the setup can deliver an immersive experience, thanks to those extra channels. The package includes a pair of front tallboy speakers and rear satellites.
Other features on the BH9430PW include a 3D Surround Processor, iPhone/iPad support, Near Field Communication (NFC), Smart TV features, and a new perk called Private Sound Mode. The latter allows users to stream content to a smartphone via WiFi (with an optional adapter), so they can listen with earbuds instead of waking up the entire family (or neighborhood) with a super-loud TV.
LG is also promising three other home theater systems: the 9.1-channel BH9230BW, the 5.1-channel BH6830SW and the 5.1-channel BH6730S.
For something a little more compact, LG is planning four new soundbar models for 2013. The cream of the crop will be the NB4530A, which has 2.1 channels, 310-watt speakers and a wirelss subwoofer. Measuring just 1.38 inches tall, the NB4530A supports HDMI with Audio Return Channel and Bluetooth streaming.
Another soundbar, the NB3730A, does streaming all on its own -- meaning it can snag content from Netflix, VUDU, CinemaNow, Pandora and vTuner, for playback on your home theater setup. The last two soundbars coming next year will be the 2.1-channel NB3530A and the 2-channel NB2030A. Here's a peek at all of LG's digital audio offerings for 2013:
LG's flagship Blu-ray player for 2013 will be the BP730 Blu-ray 3D player, a unit that combines Smart TV features and video-on-demand from Hulu Plus, Pandora, Netflix and YouTube, as well as web browsing. It also supports the aforementioned NFC. Users can tap into all of those goodies with LG's Magic Remote, which has both point and wheel-based control options. The BP730 also has a dual-core processor for All-in-One search across VOD and app services. Other Blu-ray players for 2013 include the BP530 Blu-ray 3D player and the BP330 Blu-ray player, both of which have built-in WiFi. Here's a peek at all three of this year's Blu-ray players:
LG's 2013 AV lineup wraps up with four different docking speakers and a pair of portable speakers. The ND8630 Dual Docking Speaker is an 80-watt speaker with support for both iOS and Android docking, as well as Bluetooth and Apple AirPlay. Also new for this year is a Mood Lamp feature, which can sync lighting effects with music playback. Other docking speakers expected for 2013 include the ND5630, the ND2531 and the ND2530.
The NP6630 is LG's flagship portable speaker. It's a 20-watt unit with support for NFC, AirPlay and Bluetooth, for playback almost anywhere. LG is also planning to release the NP3530 into the company's portable speaker lineup sometime next year. Here's the lowdown on LG's 2013 portable speaker products:
"A home theater system is much more than just a TV and speakers; it's a comprehensive package," said Havis Kwon, president and CEO of LG's Home Entertainment Company. "LG offers superb audio and video products to help consumers realize a truly immersive home cinema experience. By implementing advanced technologies, smart connectivity and control, LG will continue to be a leader in the audio visual segment in 2013."
LG plans to show all of the new AV products at next month's 2013 International CES in Las Vegas, Nevada.
