It looks like 2011 will be another big year for 3D TV -- at least according to LG. The company just announced three new Blu-ray 3D products, all of which will be on display at next month's Consumer Electronics Show.
The one that has us frothing is the HX996TS Real 3D Sound Home Theater System. Boasting lifelike images and sound to match, this 7.2-channel setup can pump a total of 1280 watts. Aside from the 3D features, the four tallboy speakers are the main focus of this system, which features LG's Sound Gallery and the Vertical 3D Effect Channel. Other features include two HDMI 1.4 inputs, Audio Channel Return (ARC), an iPod/iPhone cradle, Gracenote support, USB recording features, and built-in Wi-Fi. LG says that options for additional entertainment will come via Smart TV content and LG's App Store, as well as a Mobile Remote app.
Right now, there's no word on pricing or availability for the HX996TS. However, some of those details could be announced next month when the company shows off the product as one of the recipients of the 2011 CES Innovations Honoree Awards.
On a slightly smaller scale is the HB906SB Blu-ray 3D Disc Home Theater System. This setup includes 5.1-channel sound, with a total output of 1100 watts. It also has LG's Sound Gallery, USB recording options, and Gracenote features. The HB906SB supports 3D via two HDMI 1.4 inputs, awith Audio Return Channel (ARC) support and an iPod/iPhone cradle. This system also features built-in Wi-Fi, which can tap into LG apps, Smart TV features, and LG's Mobile Remote app.
Finally, the BD690 is a stand-alone Blu-ray 3D player, for those not needing the full receiver/speaker setup (or those who already have it). It does add on a little something, though: a 250GB internal hard drive. This allows the player to hold all of your music, photos, home videos, and more. Other features include built-in Wi-Fi, access to Smart TV and LG apps, and content sharing with other DLNA-compliant devices. This device is also compatible with LG's Mobile Remote app.
