KEF Unveils HTB2SE-W Wireless Subwoofer

By Rachel Cericola

We're not sure which part of KEF's HTB2SE-W we love the most. First of all, this new subwoofer cuts the speaker wires, making the unit wireless. Secondly, well... just look at it!

The new unit basically combines the HTB2, which is part of the KEF's Home Theater 5.1 line, and the Universal Wireless kit. Of course, there's the cool factor, but a wireless sub also allows for more placement options.

"Finally, discriminating music and movie lovers can have a great sounding subwoofer without having to fuss with wires and complicated setup," said Alec Chanin, KEF's president. "With our new HTB2SE-W, the end-user can be up and running in minutes without wires running across their floor. Better yet, its unique design with vertical or horizontal placement options, it can be placed almost anywhere in the listening area."

KEF's HTB2SE-W wireless subwoofer system includes the amplifier and transmitter in one package.

Promising CD-quality sound transmission, the product matches up a 250-watt Class-D amplifier and a 10-inch driver with HFADPCM wireless technology. There's also automatic signal processing, which means you won't need to fumble with buttons and dials to get the best bass.

Dealer orders are being taken now, but the KEF HTB2SE-W won't ship until next month. Expect it to sell for $1,200, which includes the amplifier and wireless transmitter/receiver.
