HiFiMan Unveils SUSVARA Flagship Planar Headphones: Only $6,000 a Pair

By Rachel Cericola

Some people are very picky about headphones. For discerning tastes (and unlimited budgets), HiFiMAN has just released SUSVARA.

SUSVARA is the company's new, planar magnetic flagship headphone model. The company is promising to show off all of its expertise in Nanotechnology in this tiny package, with a Nanotech driver that measures less than a mere 0.001 mm.

This ultra-thin driver isn't visible with the naked eye, but boasts virtually zero distortion and a high-frequency response. In other words, when you want to hoard that audio, you should get more lifelike sound than you've ever experienced.

HiFiMAN has also packed the SUSVARA with a 83dB sensitivity rating and "Stealth Magnets." Inspired by the stealth magnet design in fighter aircraft like the F-117, this allows sound to pass through the system unimpeded.

Other features include the Window Shade Grill design to protect drivers and create a wider soundstage, comfy earpads, and a new headband that combines a special metal alloy with fine calf's skinĀ for a better seal.

"Planar magnetic technology is not new, though we have been developing it for nearly a decade now," says Dr. Fang Bian, founder and president of HiFiMAN. "Anyone who has followed our progress, as well as the entire category, has seen and heard enormous strides in the performance of planar headphones. SUSVARA represents yet another step forward in what is possible with planar magnetic technology."

HiFiMAN is selling the SUSVARA now, priced at $6,000 per pair.
