Every year consumers wait for the TV and HDTV deals that inevitably come on Thanksgiving weekend (notably on Black Friday and Cyber Monday) but few know that there are ways you can take advantage of these sale prices early, without your chosen TV going out of stock on Black Friday and without waiting in some ridiculous line at a store.
This weekend, Amazon has a big sale on some of their most popular and high performance HDTVs from Samsung, LG and Panasonic, including LED and plasma models. It starts today and ends on Sunday (11/13). Many even support 3D, though these works perfectly well as 2D TVs as well if you're not interested in the 3D feature. Here's the link:
The prices are the lowest we've seen on these models. But if you buy one this weekend, your deal might get even better.
With Amazon's low price guarantee, they'll match the price on any TV they sell within 14 days of shipment. So if your TV ships any time on or after Saturday 11/12 (tomorrow), and the TV goes on sale for less on Black Friday, then you can get a refund of the price difference. But you'll get your TV early at a great price and not have to worry about the TV you really want not being in stock on Black Friday.
The price guarantee applies not only to Amazon's own pricing (which may be lower on Black Friday) but also to the pricing on over 20 of Amazon's top competitors' web sites, including Walmart.com, BestBuy.com, Vanns.com, Costco.com and many others.
Here are the details which sites are eligible and how the price match works:
Combine this with Amazon's free enhanced shipping service and 30-day return policy, and you have yourself a deal. And on Black Friday, instead of scrambling to a store or hunting frantically online, you can simply check the price of your TV on a few web sites and, if it's available for less, send an e-mail to Amazon to get your refund. And then roll right back into bed to sleep off that turkey coma.
UPDATE: in response to those who have mentioned the exclusions on the Amazon price guarantee page about time-limited/quantity limited sales, yes, it is true that there are some exclusions, and ultimately Amazon will determine which prices they will or will not match. But technically all sales on Amazon are time-limited or stock-limited and yet we've had no trouble taking advantage of this policy in the past, even on one-day and two-day sales. Anything advertised as a "lightning deal" or "gold box one day deal" may be excluded, but if you cannot get Amazon to honor a lower price, then keep in mind that you still have a 30-day return option where Amazon covers shipping costs in both directions. We would recommend taking a screen shot of any online sale that has the set for less in addition to copying the URL of the item sale page.
