Guide to Cyber Monday Deals on TV, HDTV, Home Theater and Electronics

By Chris Boylan

NOTE: This is the 2011 Cyber Monday deals page. See current TV and home theater deals in our TV Deals section.

Black Friday is behind us, but Cyber Monday is here.  Why is it called Cyber Monday?  In the early days of the internet, high-speed network connections at  home were almost unheard of, so people would do a lot of their web surfing (and shopping) from the fast internet connections provided at work, and those who returned to the office after the Thanksgiving shopping weekend would visit online stores on Monday to see what bargains were to be had online.  Although this state of affairs is mostly behind us, the tradition of great deals on the Monday after Thanksgiving (particularly on TVs and other electronics items) lives on.

From researching the ads and sneak peeks, we've compiled some quick links to Cyber Monday sales pages for a few of our favorite online shopping sites as well as a few of our picks for excellent Cyber Monday deals.  See our HDTV and Home Theater Deals section for more details and individual deal picks:

Cyber Monday HDTV and Home Theater Deals By Store:

Amazon

Perhaps the high-water mark for online shopping, Amazon remains one of the best sites to find bargains on electronic equipment online.  Their free shipping on virtually all items over $25 (including TVs), 14-day price match on TV purchases and free return shipping on TVs makes them a safe place to buy high-ticket HDTVs with confidence. Amazon's Cyber Monday Week starts Sunday and will continue throughout the week with new Gold Box and Lightning deals every day.

Pioneer's VSX-1021-K A/V receiver with iPad compatibility and built-in AirPlay support is one of Amazon's featured Cyber Monday deals at $299.99.

There are some great deals on the site including a Polk 5.1 speaker system for $219.99 , a Pioneer home theater receiver with AirPlay for $299.99 and an Onkyo home theater in a box for $249.99 (HTS3400).  Amazon also has extremely low pricing on most HDTVs, from major brands such as Samsung, Sony, LG and Panasonic.

*SHOPPING TIP* - Amazon hides the price in the cart in order to comply with manufacturers' Minimum Advertised Pricing policy (MAP).  You must put the TV into your cart in order to see the discounted price.  We saw a 1080p Panasonic plasma (42-inch) for a low $524.96 (model TC-P42S30), among other outstanding TV deals.  Here's the link to Amazon's Cyber Monday week of deals on electronic gear:

UPDATE: We just got word that Amazon is planning something special for the Gold Box lightning deals.  Starting at 6:00 PM Eastern Time, they are featuring a popular HDTV in the Gold Box lightning deals section (mostly Samsung).
