Earlier this week, Epson America, perhaps best-known these days for their affordable, high-quality projectors, announced two new projector/DVD/speaker combination units in their MovieMate line. The MovieMate 85HD and MovieMate 62 promise high-brightness 3LCD projection matched with an integrated DVD player (featuring Dolby Digital decoding), and ten-watt powered stereo speakers together in a single, portable chassis. The all-in-one design makes either MovieMate projector ideal for a quick and easy movie or big screen game night in any room of the house, movies on the road, or even an outdoor movie night - don't forget to invite the neighbors!. The units even feature microphone inputs for big screen karaoke nights in the privacy of your own home.
MovieMate 85HD and MovieMate 62 can throw an image up to twelve times larger than even a "big-screen" 40-inch 16:9 TV. They project 60-inch image from only six feet away, or a 120-inch diagonal image from a distance of 12 feet. The new MovieMate flagship model, the 85HD specifically, offers the superior image quality of 720p high-definition resolution. It's packing a brighter, energy-efficient E-TORL lamp, projecting up to 2,500 lumens color and white light output, ample not just for dark theater-like conditions but also the backyard at sunset, or a fairly bright living room.
MovieMate 62 offers a still-solid 540p resolution (960x540 pixel resolution) with 2,000 lumens of light output. Both models provide a built-in handle on the side of the compact chassis and a cushioned carrying case. The microphone jack lets you jump in on the act, for narrating slideshows, singing karaoke, or just annoying your friends and family members br providing running commentary on the movie or big game. The plug-and-play convenience of both units also extends to the HDMI input, which can accept everything from Blu-ray, PS3, XBox 360, cable and satellite set-top boxes to select computers to the latest digital cameras and camcorders. The unit's component and composite video and audio inputs also make it compatible with the Wii and any iPod or MP3 player. Headphone and coax digital audio outputs make it possible to plug the units into external powered speakers or receivers to give the sound a bit more bite.
The Epson MovieMate 85HD ($899) and MovieMate 62 ($649) come with a two-year limited warranty, toll-free access to Epson's PrivateLine priority technical support, and complimentary two-business-day exchange with Extra Care Home. Both models will be available in late-September.
