At the bustling Union Square Best Buy store in downtown New York City, the newest "Club Beats" location officially opened to the public, one of a planned 300 such stores-within-a-store across the 4,000 Best Buys. Club Beats is geared toward the hardcore fan as well as professionals, providing "a full service entertainment experience that encourages interaction with the latest and greatest in music, audio, entertainment and technology products including DJ equipment." As you can imagine, Monster's line of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones figures prominently, in addition to specialty items such as the HP ENVY Beats Limited Edition laptop computer. The Union Square Best Buy has also become the first 24-hour location in the chain.
On hand to mark the occasion were Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn, The Head Monster Noel Lee, Interscope Records Chairman Jimmy Iovine (sporting a pair of custom New York Yankees Beats Studio 'phones, in honor of the World Series Champs), and Dr. Dre himself. Performing live after the announcements was Will.i.am (of Black Eyed Peas fame).
The Manhattan event is one of several in November to promote the new concept across the country. Other performances have featured or will feature Timbaland, Robin Thicke and of course Lady Gaga, whose own branded headphones are launching this month.
