Denon is making AirPlay available to more of the masses. The company is putting the wireless perk into some of its IN-Command AV receivers. According to Denon, the four latest models for the line are designed to meet the needs of today's home theater enthusiast, as well as the custom install crowd.
All four of the new models have AirPlay, so that users can stream audio content wirelessly to the receiver from any networked iOS device, as well as Macs and PCs running iTunes. Each one also has other networking features, variable multi-zone pre-outs, remote access, Audyssey MultEQ XT, and Control4 certification for integrating the component into a whole-house system. Each one also has assignable digital and analog AV inputs, new HDMI video select functionality, and AM/FM tuners.
At the top of the heap is the 7.2-channel AVR-X4000 Network Home Theater Receiver, which has an MSRP of $1299. Besides the AirPlay, web radio and other streaming perks, this model has 125 watts for each of its seven channels and 4K Ultra HD upscaling. Other features include digital multi-zone functionality, Audyssey DSX and DTS Neo:X processing, and the option to add a separate power amp in case you're interested in creating a 9.2 setup. This model also has Audyssey MultEQ XT32 and Audyssey Sub EQ HT Dual subwoofer EQ calibration, seven HDMI inputs and three HDMI ouputs.
Next up is the 7.1 AVR-X3000 Network Home Theater Receiver. Priced at $999, this model has 105 watts per channel, the digital multi-zone functionality, and Audyssey DSX and DTS Neo:X processing. Promising 1080p and 4K Ultra HD (3840-by-2160) upconversion, the AVR-X3000 also has a digitally transmitted play function for iOS use and 192kHz/24-bit D/A converters for all channels.
Another 7-channel option is the AVR-X2000 Network Home Theater Receiver. This one is also capable of upscaling video signals to 4K Ultra HD, but has a lot of interesting audio perks. Offering 95 watts per channel, this model has 192kHz/24-bit D/A converters for all channels, Audyssey MultEQ XT, Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Audyssey Dynamic Volume. Priced at $699, it also allows users to assign two channels for stereo speakers in another room.
Last, but certainly not least, the AVR-X1000 Network Home Theater Receiver delivers 1080p and 3D video pass-through, multi-zone capability and 80 watts for each of its five channels. Other features include the aforementioned Audyssey MultEQ XT, Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Audyssey Dynamic Volume, Denon's own proprietary Compressed Audio Restorer, and an MSRP of $499.
