Denon Brings AVR-4311CI 9.2-Channel CI Home Theater Receiver to Retail

By Enid Burns

This year Denon marks 100 years of operations. In this milestone year the company is releasing the AVR-4311CI Home Theater Receiver, which is expected to appeal to both consumers and custom integrators. For the suggested retail of $1999, the new receiver includes numerous features, 3D passthrough capability and a plethora of inputs and outputs.

The AVR-4311CI is a robust 9.2 channel Network receiver. It includes Audyssey MultEQ XT32 Room correction; 32 times the resolution quality of the previous version MultEQ XT. It also has Audyssey's new Sub EQ HT to provide enhanced audio playback quality in any listening environment. Denon also added Dolby Volume to help control spikes in audio playback, such as those between TV channels or between TV programs and commercials. Audio fidelity is supplied by high resolution audio decoders including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Audyssey DSX and Dolby PLllz are on board, with multiple amplifier setup options to allow for just about any system configuration.

Inputs include seven HDMI entries and two parallel HDMI outputs including a single front-panel HDMI input for easy access.

The 9.2-channel Network AVR-4311CI includes a host of today’s most advanced audio/video features.

This is the first of Denon's receivers to feature "Pre Amp Mode," which allows integrators and consumers to configure it as a true pre-amp/processor. Typical receivers that offer pre-amp outputs provide the ability for a customer to use external amps, for greater power and flexibility.  However, in most cases, the internal amps are still powered up, which generates heat and consumes power unnecessarily.  Denon's Pre Amp mode solves the problem by disconnecting inxternal amplifiers from the power supply section.  This allows other operating components to receive pure power and eliminate noise from the amplifier.

To enhance video quality, analog and digital video sources are upconverted via Anchor Bay Technologies VRS processing to HD quality, supporting output resolutions of to 1080p/24 or 1080p/60, depending on input.  Custom integrators will like the AVR-4311CI receiver for its easier and more comprehensive connectivity and control. It features "connected home" capabilities provided by Denon partnerships with control manufactures such as Crestron, AMX, Control4, Universal Remote Control and RTI. Denon is creating and publishing on its dedicated CI portal its own complete Crestron remote control modules for installers to quickly and easily open a control interface with drag and drop programming tools.

As a network receiver, the AVR-4311CI features Ethernet connectivity, which offers IP control as well as the ability to conduct system setup and maintenance from a remote location. Custom integrators can diagnose and even fix problems or adjust the system from the office instead of visiting a client's home. The receiver also features HD Radio and is compatible with a number of online services such as Pandora and Flickr.

The AVR-4311CI is available for order now in select stores.
