We love good sounding speakers, but it also never hurts when they look nice. Definitive Technology is no stranger to good looking speakers, and now they are making music look even more slick with additions to its popular Mythos Series.
Like the existing XTR-50 on-wall loudspeaker, the Mythos XTR-60 and XTR-40 measure a mere 1.5-inches deep. The XTR-20BP is 2.5 inches deep. All three come with wall-mount brackets, for vertical or horizontal installs. The XTR-60 throws in a smoked, tempered glass stand and the XTR-20BP comes with a simple stand for vertical tabletop placement.
Of course, the biggest in the bunch is the XTR-60, which is designed to match displays that are 55 inches and up. Featuring four 3.5-inch aluminum dome drivers and four 3.5-inch aluminum dome radiators, and a 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter, the XTR-60 will sell for $899 each.
Slightly smaller TVs are a perfect match for the XTR-40, which is geared towards 40- and 42-inch HDTVs. This speaker features almost exactly the same insides as the XTR-60, but cuts the drivers and radiators in half, to two of each. It also (almost) cuts the price in half, with the XTR-40 expected to sell for $499 each.
Last, but certainly not least, the XTR-20BP is designed for surround channel use. Boasting bipolar sound radiation, this sealed system includes two 3.5-inch aluminum dome drivers and one 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter. These units are very affordable, at just $279 each.
Inside, all three include Definitive's patent-pending XTDD technology driver. On the outside, the new Mythos models all have hand-polished aircraft-grade extruded aluminum, which looks slick, but is also tough as nails. Expect the new models to start shipping this November.
