Most sci-fi fans have a favorite TV show. For a lot of them, it's Battlestar Galactica. We're not talking about the 1978 Lorne Greene version. The 2004 slick, SyFy version continues to have a huge following, and even spawned the 2010 prequel, Caprica.
If you missed the boat (er, ship?), Amazon wants to give you a chance to check out the entire series, with a good deal on the box set. Today's Gold Box Deal of the Day is Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series. Both the Blu-ray and the DVD versions are on sale, offering 62 percent off each set's list price. That means you can get the Blu-ray for $113.99 or the DVD box for $76.99. Both also offer free shipping. Find out more on the main Gold Box page:
The series follows Adama (Edward James Olmos), Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff), and Apollo (Jamie Bamber) as they lead a universe of survivors in the search for Earth, all while battling the Cylons. The series also featured Mary McDonnell, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park.
Battlestar Galactica lasted for a total of four seasons. The Blu-ray set features every season and a ton of extras on a whopping 21 discs; the DVD set has 26 discs. Our own Chris Chiarella reviewed the Blu-ray box, giving it four out of four stars. He said, "Battlestar Galactica is a modern epic that enthralled a loyal audience during its amazing trek across the heavens. This massive box is a wonderful keepsake to help us relive the excitement." Check out his full review of Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series Blu-ray or check out the product page for each set:
Both box sets do include free shipping, making it easy to get an extra for a friend. Just don't forget: Because this is the Gold Box Deal, the sale price is only being offed for one day, Wednesday, June 8, 2011.
