Like many manufacturers at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), VIZIO joined the Internet "app" party with the release of their VIZIO Internet Apps (VIA) platform. Delivering rich Internet-based content such as Netflix online streaming, VUDU movie rentals and Pandora music streaming, VIA adds considerably to the traditional television-viewing experience. If you're not yet ready to splurge on a VIA-enabled HDTV, VIZIO's VBR200W Blu-ray Disc player may be just the ticket.
In addition to traditional Blu-ray features such as 1080/24p high definition video and compatibility with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio sound, the VBR200W also features integrated 802.11n Wi-Fi (and an Ethernet port, if you prefer) to deliver VIZIO's robust VIA services in addition to BD-LIVE online content from the various movie studios.
To further entice shoppers, VIZIO and VUDU have teamed up to offer three free 1080p "HDX" movie rentals with the purchase of a VBR200W when it begins shipping in March. HDX is the term VUDU uses to describe their 1080p HD movie downloads, with video quality nearly rivaling that of Blu-ray and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound.
