CES: Vivitek Delivers Flexibility in New H5080 1080p Home Theater Projector

By Greg Robinson

Adding to its growing crop of home theater projectors, Vivitek used the Consumer Electronics Show as the venue to unveil its latest 1080p display device, the H5080. Built around Texas Instruments' DarkChip3 DLP technology, the high definition projector features a native panel resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with a brightness rating of 1600 ANSI Lumens. Contrast ratio is rated at 25,000:1 while lamp life and machine noise measure 3,000 hours and 27 dB, respectively.

Making life easier on the installation end of things, Vivitek offers interchangeable lens options on the H5080. Although the default configuration comes with a moderate-throw lens, Vivitek offers a short-throw configuration ($2,999) as well as a long-throw configuration ($2,499) so you can select the lens that makes the most sense for your space. Helping things further, the H5080 also provides both vertical and horizontal lens shift for off-axis installations.

The rear jack pack on the H5080 includes three HDMI (v1.3) inputs, VGA, Component, S-Video and composite inputs plus the added convenience of RS-232C and 12v trigger connections for use with external automation systems. The H5080 comes with a one-year limited warranty and is available now.
