Panasonic is expanding their stylish HC series of compact stereo systems this year with the introduction of three new models introduced unvailed at CES: the SC-HC20, SC-HC30, and SC-HC40. In addition to CD playback and iPod/iPhone compatibility, each model is also equipped with an AM/FM tuner.
While the base model, the SC-HC20, sports a motorized door for CD access and a pull-out iPod dock underneath, the step-up models feature a motorized center sliding door that provides access to both. The SC-HC30 and SC-HC40 can also be wall mounted, and feature Panasonic's own Bamboo Cone Speakers, with a dual passive radiator design that promises to minimize harmful resonance and deliver superior bass performance.
At the top of the line, the SC-HC40's Bluetooth functionality allows for hands free conversations while the iPhone is docked. Music can also be streamed to the SC-HC40 via Bluetooth from the iPhone, iPod Touch, and other compatible smartphones.
Look for the SC-HC40, SC-HC30, and SC-HC20 to hit shelves in April. If Panasonic knows how much they'll sell for, they're not telling yet, but the $199.95 MSRP of last year's SC-HC3 should provide a pretty reasonable clue.
