At a private after-hours event, musician producer Dr. Dre, and Interscope Geffen A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine and Head Monster Noel Lee unveiled a trio of new headphones as part of the expanding Beats by Dr. Dre line of headphones. The Beats Solo HD with ControlTalk High Definition On-Ear Headphones bring a new level of performance to the original Solo, thanks to newly redesigned drivers Beats Solo HD headphones feature the ControlTalk on-cable remote for iPhone and select iPods, as well as an intergrated microphone for hands-free calls on multiple smartphones. ControlTalk will become standard on the entire Beats line moving forward. Beats Solo HD headphones will be available in March 2010 for a suggested retail price of $229.95 per pair, in gloss black, gloss white and (PRODUCT) RED finishes.
Beats by Dr. Dre Spin Professional Headphones ($349) are a high-end offering for pro/aspiring disc jockeys or hardcore poseurs, with clever design tweaks: the sound-isolating over-the-ear cups flip up on durable metal hinges so they need not be removed over and over throughout the night. And Monster's patented input/output jacks offer two unique benefits, allowing users to choose which side, left or night, they want the signal input cable to reside, while the otherwise unused jack can actually be used as an output, to pass-though the music to a connected fellow listener.
Last up was the special introduction of new in-ear headphones co-designed by music entrepreneur and fashion icon Sean "Diddy" Combs. His $179.95 Diddy Beats integrate Dr. Dre's club-level bass, clarity and sonic power into an elegant earbud. The aluminum and leather-wrapped housing with polished enamel, plus a Sean John-inspired travel case, bring the style, and the assortment of bundled eartips assure the right fit. They also feature Monster's exclusive matching flat black cable to make them tangle-resistant.
