CES: Earthquake Sound's Titan Telesto and Tigris Bring the Thunder of the Gods

By Peter Suciu

Earthquake Sound Corp. has spawned a new set of tower speakers that are part of its Titan brand, and these promise to look as good as they sound. The new Telesto cabinets are built from multiple laminations of steam bent, high density fiber board, to provide rigidity while lowering cabinet vibrations. Each is equipped with XLT EQ8 extra long excursion subwoofers to create accurate low frequency extension, while these are mounted 90-degrees off-axis from the front of the speakers to deliver massive bass response.

Furthermore, the Telesto towers feature two 4-inch carbon fiber drivers, along with two conically shaped epoxy cabinets that house the T1 tweeter and M2 midrange. The Telestos offer a rated frequency response of 25Hz-40KHz and a crossover frequency of 350Hz, 3.2KHz and 10KHz for the full 4-way system.

Telesto Tigris Tower Speaker

For even more thunder from the heavens, Earthquake Sound also has delivered the Tigris tower loudspeakers, the larger siblings of the Telestos. These feature the same frequency response delivered through 1-inch silk dome NEO tweeter, one 2-inch ball loaded silk dome tweeter and dual 8-inch Kevlar long excursion midbass woofers. These are enclosed in the egg-shaped speaker enclosure to allow for improved sound reproduction with minimal reflections. These massive speakers will surely seem like monoliths as these measure 51.25" (1302mm) x 10.8" (275mm) x 19.3" (487mm) each!

Pricing:

  • Titan Telestos MSRP: $7,999.00/pair
  • Titan Tigris MSRP: $9,500.00/pair
