At the CEA Line Show in New York City this week, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America discussed the LaserVue Carbon Neutral Facebook campaign, put in place to encourage awareness of harmful carbon dioxide emissions and wasteful energy consumption. The campaign seeks to further educate consumers about this hotbed issue, while subtlely reminding them of the extreme power efficiency of Mitsubishi's LaserVue and standard DLP HDTVs. Mitsubishi has already pledged to donate one dollar per person (up to $5,000) for the first 5,000 Facebook and Twitter users to join the LaserVue Carbon Neutral group or follow its Twitter page. These proceeds will go toward the purchase of 500 carbon offsets from the non-profit group Bonneville Environment Foundation.
Going 3D
This year Mitsubishi's entire home theater product line of large screen DLP sets will offer 3D-Ready viewing technology. Mitsubishi is working closely with leading technology and content providers to develop a rich 3D experience for consumers, particularly for 3D gaming and movies.

Unisen Brings on the Big Sound
HDTV isn't just about good looking video: you need big sound to complete the package. And to get the full surround sound experience in a bedroom, smaller living room or den, Mitsubishi has unveiled new models in their Unisen line of flat panel LCD sets. These models incorporate a 16-speaker Dolby Digital 5.1 channel surround system built right into the sets' speaker bar. Unlike standard virtual surround technologies, Mitsubishi's Integrated Sound Projector technology uses side walls to reflect sound to the rear of the room so you can get real surround sound without rear speakers. The Unisen series features screen sizes ranging from 40 to 52-inches.
These models will be Digital Cable Ready (CableCard), which should make for a quick connection to digital cable without the need for a set-top box. HDMI audio is supported for easy connection to DVD and Blu-ray players. Also, the Diamond models ("249" series) feature an RJ45 network port, reserved for future use (online content streaming and/or widgets). An official announcement will be made this Summer about which online content partners will be available on Mitsubishi TVs but the VUDU logo featured prominently in their demos.
