Just two weeks ago, we reported on the popularity of the soundbar market. People are certainly looking for an easy way to boost TV sound quality. However, Boston Acoustics is hoping to lure some of those potential soundbar buyers back to a speaker set with the newly announced SoundWare XS Digital Cinema Surround Sound System.
The latest member of the SoundWare speaker family is a compact three-piece surround system geared towards shoppers interested in a soundbar.
Now, Boston Acoustics loves soundbars, too. In fact, they have some very nice options in the company's TVee series. Those are so nice, in fact, that Boston Acoustics is packing the TVee's out-of-the-box, surround sound experience into the SoundWare design.
The package includes two 1/2-inch SoundWare XS satellites, each measuring less than 4 inches. Rounding out the set is an 8-inch, 100-watt (250-watt Peak) powered subwoofer. Other features include optical digital and analog inputs, Dolby Digital decoding and Boston's Digitally Optimized (discrete) Virtual Surround processing, and Bluetooth support for music streaming.
The set also includes dedicated Movie and Music modes and remote learning capabilities, so you won't need to add another remote into your setup.
"Boston Acoustics is committed to providing the ideal sound solution for every possible consumer application," said Kevin Zarow, VP of sales for Boston Acoustics. "We recognize that a significant number of consumers elect to use the stand provided by the TV manufacturer to position their flat panel TV on top of their audio furniture. It can be difficult to place a soundbar in this scenario without partially obstructing a clear view of the screen from some angles."
Boston Acoustics says that the SoundWare XS Digital Cinema will be available starting in June. Expect the MSRP to be $499.99.
