Unlike passive 3D sets, the Panasonic TC-P50ST30 offers full HD 3D (1920x1080 pixel resolution) in 3D mode, with image viewer H.264 with 3D Playback. All that's required for 3D is the source, such as a cable box or Blu-ray 3D player or a PlayStation 3. To enhance the image, the TC-P50ST30 uses 3D 24p Cinema Smoother, a technology that analyzes the preceding and succeeding frames for information, to create a supplementary frame in between that will provide smoother, more natural-looking moving images.
Black levels are rich, using the Infinite Black 2 panel present on new VIERA models. The technology significantly improves contrast in brightly lit locations. It also has added enhancements to the panel cells to help reproduce images with smooth, natural gradation and deep, rich blacks, rather than murky jaggies that affected older generation plasma TVs.
Find additional content sources with VIERA Connect. The fully networked, Wi-Fi ready HDTV (optional WiFi adapter not included) makes content from IPTV sources available on screen. Watch video and listen to music from sources such as Netflix, Pandora, VUDU, Amazon and more.
Expect a great picture. The Panasonic VIERA TC-P50ST30 is a full high definition 1080p Plasma set with two full range 20 Watt speakers and is surround sound capable via its fiberoptic digital audio output. There are three HDMI ports and two USB inputs alongside standard component video and composite video inputs.
It may be a bit big to put under the tree, but a 50-inch plasma HDTV will make a big impact on Christmas morning.
