Unlike some of the no-name TVs out there today, this is a certified 1080p plasma HDTV from Panasonic, featuring those deep blacks and excellent motion reproduction that we've come to expect from Panasonic plasmas. It is a fairly bare bones model, without any Internet streaming capabilities, but you can add those on easily enough with a streaming-capable Blu-ray player, Roku box or Apple TV.
The set does include a built-in ATSC/QAM digital tuner so you can tune in your local DTV and HDTV broadcasts without a cable box. The unit features Panasonic's 600 Hz Subfield Motion Drive which ensures that you get crystal clear reproduction of moving images without the blur or soap opera effect you can get on LED and LCD TVs. This and other models in the U2 line offer Panasonic's VIERA Image Viewer feature, which enables you to play slideshows of JPEG images stored on SD Memory cards, as well as the VIERA Link feature for controlling a variety of compatible components - from Blu-Ray Disc players to Digital cameras - through a single remote.
