In addition to the theatrical and director-approved extended cuts of the first two films, the next two in the series (Alien3 and Alien Resurrection) are also presented in both theatrical and extended cuts. For this release, the film-makers have gone back to record some additional dialog and sound effects for the third film so that the newly added footage matches the rest of the film sonically. This is the best these films have ever looked and sounded and makes an excellent addition to any film fan's collection.
The discs in the Alien Anthology come in a boardbook complete with artwork from the films.
Although the discs have some compatibility issues with earlier Blu-ray players, due to the advanced use of BD-Java and BD-Live, most of these can be addressed with firmware upgrades or simple work-arounds. We've tested the discs on more than ten different Blu-ray players from different brands (old and new) and found the compatibility issues to be fairly minor.
