Leading Web Site Unveils BIGGIE Awards for the Best Blu-rays of the Year

New York, NY - December 31, 2010 - It has been an exciting year for the Blu-ray Disc format, and the Big Picture Big Sound staff has teamed up to select their favorite Blu-ray Discs and boxed sets for the year. Whether it's a top-notch audio and video transfer, compelling or unique set of extras, innovative use of technology, or a combination of all of the above, these best-in-class software titles are being awarded the first-ever BIGGIE Awards for excellence in Blu-ray Disc production.

"Our staff has reviewed nearly 350 Blu-ray titles this year.  From this list, we've selected the best of the best," says Chris Boylan, Big Picture Big Sound's editor-in-chief and co-founder.  "We decided it was time to recognize those studios who have delivered titles of exceptional quality this year.  The BIGGIE Award is how we're showing this recognition."

As with the site's reviews, the BIGGIE Awards for Blu-ray take several factors into consideration: audio quality, video quality, extras and, most importantly, the quality of the content itself (movie, TV show or concert).  Only Blu-ray Discs released and reviewed in 2010 are eligible for consideration for this year's awards.  Detailed reviews for all of these titles are available on Big Picture Big Sound's web site: www.bigpicturebigsound.com.

The BIGGIE
Boylan concludes, "We believe that an investment in any of these Blu-rays or boxed sets is money well spent in building a high-quality, high-definition film library. Kudos to the studios who helped make 2010 a banner year for Blu-ray."

Without further ado, the 2010 BIGGIE Awards for Blu-ray Disc go to...
