It's important to note that the 42LW5300 is one of LG's passive "Cinema 3D" TVs. This newer technology boasts flicker-free, brighter images and uses inexpensive, light passive 3D glasses instead of the more expensive battery-powered active 3D glasses. This means you can output the whole family - and then some - for 3D viewing without having to spend an arm and a leg.
Although the set does not deliver 1080p resolution to each eye in 3D mode (due to its FPR filter), it does do full 10080p for 2D viewing and offers a very fun, very impressive viewing experience in 2D or 3D.
