Audyssey and Sharp Electronics Corporation have delivered the fruits of their recent collaboration in Sharp's new high-definition home-theater-in-a-box, the BD-MPC41U Blu-ray Home Theater System. The complete BD-MPC41U bundle includes a total of five easy pieces: a sound bar to reproduce all three front channels, a standalone subwoofer, a pair of surround speakers and a Blu-ray player/receiver. The player/receiver houses a 1,020-watt multichannel amplifier which is graced with a host of Audyssey's proprietary audio processing technologies to greatly improve the system's performance. It also accepts audio/video input from additional sources such as cable and satellite set-top boxes.
The BD-MPC41U's list of audio enhancements begins with the pre-set Audyssey EQ, for no-brains-required setup and enjoyment right out of the carton. Dynamic EQ, meanwhile, maintains the dynamic range and balance of a soundtrack regardless of volume, so the bass and surround aren't lost at those times when low overall listening levels are appropriate. Fans of big bottom end will appreciate Audyssey Bass XT, which wrings every Hz of low-frequency effects from the system's subwoofer. And with Audyssey Dynamic Volume, one of the company's most consumer-appreciated offerings, the jarring volume spikes that occur between network programming and commercials; and the level swings between different shows; are all but eliminated.
Beyond the Audyssey technology suite, the BD-MPC41U packs a host of key features, including internet connectivity, which enables both BD-Live and Netflix streaming directly to the player. FM radio and an iPod docking slot are also provided. The BD-MPC41U is available now, at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $599.99.
