Audio-Technica Celebrates 50th Anniversary at CES 2012

By Peter Suciu

Lots of people head to Las Vegas to celebrate a big anniversary -- just ask our editor! This year, however, Audio-Technica will be in Sin City to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary and introduce a few very special commemorative headphone models.

A total of five Limited Edition 50th Anniversary products will debut at CES 2012. These include the ATH-W3000ANV over-ear and ATH-CKW1000ANV in-ear audiophile headphones, the ATH-PRO700MK2ANV DJ headphones, the AT50ANV air-core moving coil phono cartridge, and the AT150ANV Dual Magnet phono cartridge.

At the top is the W Series, which is something akin to the "Big W," (anyone who has seen It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World knows that this is special). It will have a limited production run of just 2,000 units worldwide.

In addition to new headphones, Audio-Technica will be showing off its expanded Solid Bass lineup at CES 2012. This includes the ATH-CKS55i in-ear headphones, which feature an integrated mic and controls for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. These Solid Bass headphones are designed for listeners of all music tastes, so everything from hip-hop to hard rock and other bass-driven music will sound just like it was meant to be heard.

For the fitness crowd, Audio-Technica is introducing the Apple-friendly ATH-CP500i for iPhone and iPod devices and the ATH-CP500 Sport Fit In-ear Headphones. Both of these offer an ear-hanger design and loop support system to provide a stable, comfortable fit, even during intense workouts.

DJs can also get into the spin of things as Audio-Technica premieres its new top-of-the-line AT-LP1240-USB Professional DJ Turntable. This unit promises to combine high-performance DJ-friendly features with a sleek design that complements any home music system. Also, USB connectivity makes it easy to convert LPs to digital music files. Because no one should live by vinyl alone!
