Creature triple feature! If you've been holding on out having the Alien movies invade your home, this would be the week to roll out the welcome wagon. Amazon has the Alien Anthology Blu-ray on sale for cheap all week.
As Amazon's Blu-ray Deal of the Week, the Alien Anthology is being offered for $52.99 from now through June 11, 2011. That's a total of 62 percent off the list price -- and $17 less than the website sold the set during its big Black Friday sale. Find out more about this offer on Amazon's product page:
The 6-disc set includes theatrical and director-approved extended cuts of Alien and Aliens, as well as theatrical and extended cuts of Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. Each one of the films has its own set of extras, with two full discs delivering a ton of other extras. Our own Chris Chiarella gave this set a whopping four (out of four) stars, which scored the release a BIGGIE award for 2010. Read his full review of the Alien Anthology Blu-ray for more detailed information.
As Amazon notes, some players have had compatibility issues with this set, but it's easy to fix with a firmware update (in most cases). Check the product page for more information:
Still, this is the absolute best that this set of films has ever looked and sounded, and it's also the cheapest we've seen for the US version. Amazon is even throwing in free Super Saving Shipping to sweeten the deal. Just remember that the set is only on sale this week, through June 11, 2011.
UPDATE: Thanks to a reader tip, we'd like to note that you can also buy the UK version of this set on Amazon.co.uk. It includes all of the same materials (including bonus features) and plays on US Blu-ray players. The only difference is the packaging. The UK price is 19.99 (Pounds Sterling) which works out to under $35 including budget shipping to the US. It may be worth the slight wait for the lower price.
