3D TV Deal! Samsung UN46C8000 46-inch 1080p LED 3D HDTV: $1875 (Save $924)
By Rachel Cericola
NOTE: This offer has expired but Amazon has a great deal on the UN46C8000:
The price as of this posting is $1899.98, with free shipping and a free Blu-ray 3D player, and 3D Starter Kit with 2 pairs of glasses and 2 movies available with purchase. More details on player/glasses bundle offer.
Still trying to decide whether or not you can afford the 3D TV upgrade? Stop wondering and start shopping. Electronics Expo just announced a promotion on Samsung's very slick 46-inch LED TV, the UN46C8000.
Order the unit and use coupon code LSDA0607 during checkout. This will save you 25 percent over the online retailer's regular price. That's a whopping $924 off the regular retail price. Here is the link:
The UN46C8000 is part of Samsung's 8000 series of LEDs, which use Precision Dimming, a combination of edge lighting and local dimming technology. Because it's an LED-lit LCD TV, that means bright colors, and deep blacks in a more energy-efficient TV. Also, because these LED TVs use edge-lighting instead of backlighting, this set is thin as a pin -- well, a pin that's 0.9 inches thick.
Our own Chris Chiarella reviewed its big brother, the 55-inch
UN55C8000 and found a lot to like in this uber-thin technological marvel. Aside from a full 1080p 3D picture, the unit's built-in 3D processor actually converts 2D content to 3D, in real time. However, you'll need one or more pairs of Samsung's Active Shutter 3D glasses for the full 3D experience. Samsung is currently selling a
3D TV Starter Kit, which includes two pairs of glasses, as well as a 3D Blu-ray copy of
Monsters vs. Aliens. You'll also need a Blu-ray 3D player to go with it, and for that, we'd recommend the
BD-C6900 Blu-ray 3D player, also from Samsung.
If you just want to see what the 2D world is up to, the UN46C8000 offers plenty of content beyond your cable/satellite box. Samsung has built in quite a nice selection of apps, which you can access on the big screen, right from your remote. Partners include Blockbuster, YouTube, Pandora, Twitter, Skype (camera sold separately), and more.
Other features include 240Hz Auto Motion Plus technology, an 8,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, four HDMI inputs, and Anynet+ support. Also, the unit has AllShare, which means it can sync up compatible digital devices, so that PCs, cameras and portable devices can all be enjoyed on the TV.
At last look, Electronics Expo was offering this deal through July 7, 2010. Order one today and you could soon be one of the first on your block watching the World Cup in 3D!
